Punjab has shown a spectacular growth in healthcare in the last decade. The state has witnessed a paradigm shift in terms of demand of better quality of healthcare and a slow transition from small nursing homes to mega corporate set ups. Private healthcare behemoths like Apollo Hospitals Group and Fortis Healthcare Limited have been the frontrunners in chalking out aggressive growth plans in Punjab. The Government is also making changes in its policy framework to make healthcare accessible to masses by moving towards PPP model across Punjab. It is building two super specialty cancer hospitals in the state through PPP with Max Healthcare. On the cards are the proposed development of a medical city project by Fortis Healthcare in Mohali and development Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences at Jalandhar.
